Welcome to my site – it’s not exhaustive, but I believe it offers a sense of the range of my abilities, interests and vision.

I’ve been shooting seriously for about ten years – and by seriously, I don’t mean gravely, technically, and solemnly.  I mean avidly, eagerly, playfully, and intently.

I shoot because I love creating images that other people can relate to, but which also nudge people’s perspectives a bit.  Isn’t anything that broadens our vistas and awareness a good thing?

I love all aspects of photography – playing with light, color, texture, timing, perspective, the interplay of different elements.  It’s all dynamic.  There’s always more to see, perceive and communicate - whether outdoors, on-location, or in studio.

I also enjoy opportunities to collaborate with others.  My vision isn’t threatened by other people expressing theirs.  But, in the end, I freely take responsibility for bringing all the elements together.

As a photographer, I’m still actively growing.  Rainer Maria Rilke wrote in his Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge, “Habe ich es schon gesagt? Ich lerne sehen.” (“Have I said this before? I’m learning to see.”)

As a person (That has to matter, doesn't it!?), I'm a father of mid-teen twins - simply wonderful and amazing people whom I've been blessed with the opportunity to parent.  I am also friend.  If I'm half the friend and father I hope to be in this life, I'll count myself truly fortunate.  Beyond that, I claim little and hope much.

That’s the trick – learning to see & understand, and then learning to communicate and share ...

"Photography is not documentary, but intuition, a poetic experience. It's drowning yourself, dissolving yourself, and then being sensitive to coincidence. You can't go looking for it; you can't want it, or you won't get it. First you must lose yourself. Then it happens." - Henri Cartier-Bresson

"When you paint Spring do not paint willows, plums, peaches, or apricots, but just paint Spring."  – Zen Master Dogon

"I try to photograph people's spirits and thoughts. As to the soul-taking by the photographer, I don't feel I take away, but rather that the sitter and I give to each other. It becomes an act of mutual participation." - Yousuf Karsh

And in fact the artist’s experience lies so unbelievably close to the sexual, to its pain and pleasure, that the two phenomena are really just different forms of one and the same longing and bliss. – Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet.
